Numbers meet Vastu

Traditional belief

NumeroVastu (अंक वास्तु) joins two traditions: Vastu, which looks at directions and layout, and numerology (अंक ज्योतिष), which gives each digit 1–9 a ruling planet — 1 Sun (सूर्य), 2 Moon (चन्द्र), 3 Jupiter (बृहस्पति), 4 Rahu (राहु), 5 Mercury (बुध), 6 Venus (शुक्र), 7 Ketu (केतु), 8 Saturn (शनि), 9 Mars (मंगल).

This digit-to-planet table is a modern Indian numerology convention, not part of the classical Vastu texts. Traditions disagree on some of it: Cheiro's Western system links 4 with Uranus and 7 with Neptune instead of Rahu and Ketu.

The arithmetic is exact

Supported

A house number is reduced by adding its digits until one digit remains: 45/7 → 4 + 5 + 7 = 16 → 1 + 6 = 7. Letters such as the A in 12A are given values from a letter system (Chaldean or Pythagorean).

By the same convention, your mulank (मूलांक) comes from your birth day and your bhagyank (भाग्यांक) from the full date of birth. NumeroVastu in VedVastu shows every step, so you can check the working yourself.

Matching people with the property

Traditional belief

Harmony borrows the natural friendship between planets — friend, neutral or enemy — that Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra lists for astrology; applying it to house numbers is a later numerology practice. VedVastu reports this as a percentage for each person in the home.

This is a cultural rule of thumb. There is no scientific evidence that a house number affects health, money or relationships.

Use it gently

Plausible

Never buy, sell, rebuild or rename because of a number alone. Light, air, safety and a sensible layout matter far more — check those with the Vastu plan tools first.

If you enjoy the tradition, NumeroVastu can be a pleasant way to reflect on a home. Details are saved only with each person's consent, and you can delete any person at any time.
