Sleeping direction and the magnetism claim

The traditional rule
Traditional beliefVastu advises sleeping with the head towards the south or east, not the north. It is one of the most widely followed household rules in India.
The explanation usually given
Traditional beliefPurkar et al. (2019) repeat a common explanation: the body acts like a magnet with the head as its north pole, so pointing it north makes it 'repel' the Earth's north pole and disturbs circulation.
What the evidence says
Traditional beliefThe human body is not a bar magnet, and the Earth's field (about 25–65 microtesla) is far too weak to affect blood flow — hospital MRI scanners use fields tens of thousands of times stronger. We know of no good study showing sleep direction changes health.
If a head-south or head-east bed helps you rest — because of window position, morning light or simple habit — that is a perfectly good reason to keep it.
